Probably seems stupid to be stressed over something so small, but I’ve been at that school all my life. I don’t exactly have a lot of friends there, but still. The friends I do have are the best I could ever ask for, and I doubt I’d be able to see them very much anymore (or at all, considering I don’t know their numbers and won’t have the chance to tell them). And the there’s other people I barely talked to, but… Ugh, nevermind.

Was going to type some other stuff, but fuck it. Expect another post in a few weeks or something.

At the start of Microsoft’s conference, they talked about how the number of Xbox LIVE subscribers has more than doubled – from 6 to 12 million. But I have to wonder, is that really the case? I mean, how many of those are just second accounts made for boosting/modding/bypassing age-restricted DLC (for Child Accounts)?

First game they showed was Fallout 3. I’m not really one for RPGs, so this didn’t really appeal to me. The combat (shooting) looks kinda slow, and although it’s a neat concept, the auto-targeting kinda removes the whole point. Who needs skill when you can just pause and go for the head?

Then, Resident Evil 5. It’s not a bad thing to have more features, but Co-op doesn’t interest me in the slightest. Totally ruins the atmosphere – “Aw, man did you see that?! That zombie was all like ‘graah’ and I was all like ‘woah’ and I shot it and was all like ‘take that!’”. I’ll be buying this regardless, though.

I was skeptical of Gears 2 at first, because it didn’t seem that they were going to change it up enough. However, this is not the case: new weapons, modes, maps, enemies, and a new portable cover/”meatshield” system seem more than enough to keep me playing for a long time. DO WANT.

I don’t think I’ll get Rock Band 2 or Guitar Hero 4. I just can’t justify spending $180+ on more plastic instruments that I’ll only use occasionally. If I were to get one, though, it’d definitely be RB 2; The number of songs (500 compatible songs by the end of the year, including DLC) is simply staggering.

Though Final Fantasy XIII was a huge surprise, I won’t get it. Like I said previously, I’m not into RPGs. And for some reason Final Fantasy characters make me want to punch a baby.

There are some pretty cool Arcade games coming out that interest me. Portal: Still Alive, though apparently not canon, is a must-buy for me. No GlaDOS? Who cares, that just means there won’t be even more people screaming “THE CAKE IS A LIE ROFL” at every opportunity they get, like it’s actually still funny. Geometry Wars 2 looks like a very good time-waster, as does Galaga Legions. Might download Banjo Kazooie (Banjo Kazooie 3, however, won’t interest me unless it gets really good reviews).

And then there’s (Ugh…) Xbox Live Avatars, Lips, You’re in the Movies and all that other stuff nobody cares about. Honestly, Microsoft. You tried attracting the “casual gamers” multiple times before, and it didn’t work. What makes you think an obvious Mii ripoff, typical Karaoke game, and garbage Camera mini-game collection will work? The people who like these kinds of things already have a Wii.

All in all it was a good show, with something for everyone (Even your grandma, assuming she doesn’t already have a Wii). It’s a great time to own a 360, people!

Boring Journal Stuff

Summer didn’t exactly start off on the best note: Videocard fried and the Geforce 5 FX series (Which is really the best you can get with AGP) is discontinued, so I can’t even use Photoshop anymore. Doubt I’ll get a new computer anytime soon: God knows I don’t have the money, and my parents aren’t concerned with anything other than finishing and selling the other place right now.

Cousin’s staying here for the summer while he works on the highway, Don’t remember his name right now, but he’s a pretty cool guy. Crazy awesome at Guitar Hero, too.

Er, I think that’s all. Hm. Dunno whether I should be happy or sad.

Boring Game Stuff

A few weeks ago Kyle broke down and bought a PS3. Surprised me, because he always says how much console gaming sucks and is for “nubs and badkids”. Watched him play MGS4 for a bit, then tried it myself a few days later. Definately not my kind of game.

Yesterday, 7/7, was Bungie day. As a present, Bungie gave us the gift of Cold Storage. It’s an awesome map, probably among my Top 3 – the other two being Guardian and The Pit (gawd I’m such an MLG whore). Unreal Tournament 3 also came out for the 360 yesterday – think I’ll pick that up today, as well as trade in the 15 or so games that I never play.

Speaking of Bungie, apparently something big’s going down on Monday, the first day of E3. Could it be what I think? Halo Chronicles revealed?!…

I’d like to actually do stuff this summer, but I doubt that’ll happen. Kinda sad that summer is supposed to be a time to get out and enjoy the sun, but I end up staying indoors for 95% of it. No motivation, I guess: Like I said above, if I can get by without even trying, what’s the point in doing extra shit?

E3′s in a few weeks, so that’s pretty cool. Couple thoughts about that, I guess.

- XBL Avatars sound stupid. We already have Gamercards with extensive information, why do we need some generic Mii-type character? Seems like a petty attempt at attracting more casual gamers.

- Halo Wars has the potential to be awesome, but so much could go wrong. RTS’ and consoles have never mixed particularly well, though Ensemble games tend to be really great (<3 AoM).

- Gears 2 looks alright. Better Campaign with “new” weapons (It’s not a rip-off of Halo 3′s Spiker, I swear!) and the same crappy Multiplayer. Really, it worries me that they seem oblivious to all the problems that plauge that thing: absurd Host advantage, laggy hitboxes, and all the button-glitches (Crabwalk for the lose).

And that concludes this irregularly game-filled post.

No idea how I’m going to get a good final mark in school, I’ve missed/lost so much work. It’s so late in the year I just feel like giving up and not doing shit for the next few weeks, except for final exams. Pretty hot out, as well: Gym just got 10x worse.

Can’t think of anything else, so bye. Probably have another update around the end of June.

I’ve been having a great time recently. The people who I usually consider immature pricks seem to have (for the most part, anyway) stopped being so stupid. I’ve been paying more attention in class and as a result school is easier. Somewhere around 2 months left, that’ll be a breeze. And of course, there’s GTA IV: but if you have been on the internet at all in the past week, I shouldn’t need to explain why it’s so freaking amazing.

So I just checked my email: apparently MS hasn’t received my 360 yet. I know it’s unlikely that they would after only 3 days, but I don’t know why they needed to send me an email about it. Wasn’t one of those automatic ones, either. Meh, whatever. As long as I get it back within the next week or two.

Oh, on another note: Bleach… I can’t describe how awesome the newest episode (164) is. Just… Wow. The current plot is friggin’ amazing, and this episode was no exception. I guess it’s kinda stupid that they toned down the blood a bit, but I can look past that.
